Care for today. Hope for Tomorrow.
McLaren Breast Cancer Services
Besides the burden of a breast cancer diagnosis, many women have, in the past, faced fragmented consultation and treatment, complicating an already difficult life event. McLaren Breast Cancer Services are designed to be a one-stop source for information, eliminating the legwork and wait-time for the patient. Whether it a woman's first stop for consultation following diagnosis or a second opinion, a team of physician specialists will collectively evaluate each case and recommend a best course of treatment. This evaluation is provided free of charge and without obligation.
Dedicated Breast Coordinator
A certified oncology nurse, specializing in breast cancer will act as the contact person for patients and physicians participating in the Breast Conference. The coordinator will become a familiar source of information, setting up conference times, answering questions, educating patients, and helping navigate through the health care system.
Same Day Evaluation and Recommendation
Breast conferences are conducted each Wednesday at the McLaren Cancer Institute-McLaren. On conference days, patients receive a suggested treatment plan during a private session with their general surgeon following a comprehensive discussion by our physicians specializing in cancer care.
Physician specialists include:
Surgeons
Radiation Oncologists
Medical Oncologists

Primary Care Physicians
Ancillary Services and Programs
Following discussion with the surgeon, patients will have the opportunity to meet with other care team members involved in their health and healing.
- A physical therapist will work with the patient to maintain range of motion in the areas affected and will help them gradually work back to pre-treatment activity level with stretches, massage, breathing techniques, and exercise.
- A registered dietician meets with women to discuss nutritional recommendations for breast cancer patients
- A social worker is available to assist with any special needs that patient may have during their treatment such as personal, family and financial concerns.
