How is the Surgery Performed?

The TriPort access system by Olympus is placed into the umbilicus, allowing physicians a single-port access for up to three surgical and imaging instruments, including a fiber optic camera and articulating surgical instruments.
Who is a candidate for surgery?
LESS is currently used to perform surgery for the gallbladder, appendix, ovary, and colon. Some individuals who have previously undergone open abdominal surgery are not ideal candidates for the LESS surgery. Anyone who is facing one of the above procedures can contact Dr. Kia's office at (810) 732-0908 for a consultation to determine if he/she is eligible to receive LESS surgery.
Tiny Incision with Superior Vision
Another key component enabling the single-port procedure is the Olympus EndoEYE, which provides an exceptional digital image while being small and flexible enough to maneuver with other instruments in a small space.
