Preparation for Childbirth
A five-week series of classes designed to prepare families for their childbirth experience. Discussion of normal labor progression, relaxation techniques for labor, and postpartum and family adjustments are only a few of the topics discussed. A tour of the LDRP unit is included. Cost: $50
Preparation for Childbirth-Saturday Class
A one-day class designed for those unable to attend evening classes. This intensive class includes physiology of labor and birth, relaxation techniques, comfort measures, as well as postpartum and family adjustments. Classes are held one Saturday a month. Cost: $50 Review
Preparation for Childbirth Review This class is for families who have attended a full series of classes with a previous pregnancy. Review of information. Cost: $10
VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean) For those planning a VBAC birth. Topics include the benefits and risks of VBAC and Cesarean birth, supportive labor and birth techniques, emotional concerns, and post-operative care and healing. Plan to attend in the first or second trimester. One evening 6:30-8:30 p.m. Cost: $10
Cesarean Birth For those planning a Cesarean birth. Topics include benefits and risks of Cesarean birth, emotional concerns, pre-operative and post-operative care and healing. One evening 6:30 -8:30 p.m. Cost: $10
Breastfeeding This class is for mothers planning to breastfeed and for those who are undecided about a feeding method. A breastfeeding specialist covers topics such as positioning, feeding techniques, benefits, and solutions to common problems. Cost: $10
Baby Care This class focuses on topics related to general infant care, growth and development, parenting skills, family adjustments, safety concerns and more. Cost: $20
Sibling Celebration The class explores the role of becoming a new big brother or big sister through discussion, video, play and art. Designed for children 3 to 8 years of age. Cost: $10
Sibling at Birth For children, aged 3 or older, who plan to be present at the labor and birth of a sibling. Cost: $10
