Don Adams: Donald Adams has provided professional
consulting services since 1993. During such time Mr. Adams has consistently
served as an advocate for Emergency Medical Services in Michigan and has
provided professional education programs and consulting for multiple agencies
and municipalities. In addition, Mr. Adams has been established as an EMS expert
and has served as an expert witness in Michigan Circuit Court and is an EMS
Expert for the State of Michigan.
Mr. Adams is currently employed as the Manager of EMS Education for the
McLaren Health Care Corporation in Flint, Michigan, one of the nations Top Ten
Health Systems. McLaren EMS Education provides training to over 1500
participants each year.
Mr. Adams is a past President of the Michigan Association of Ambulance
Services, and has served on the State of Michigan EMS Coordinating Committee,
State of Michigan Emergency Telephone Services Committee, and was the
Chairperson for the State of Michigan EMS Operations Committee.
Mr. Adams has received several community and national awards including 1996
Michigan Paramedic of the Year; Letter of Commendation for outstanding
performance from William Jefferson Clinton, President of the United States; and,
is a recipient of the County of Lapeer Life Saving Award.
Jamie Kitchen: Jamie Kitchen started his career in 19991 as
a fire department explorer. During this time he took his EMT program through
Emergency Medical Consultants in Brighton, MI. Once in EMS he felt the desire to
continue his education. He attended the Paramedic program at McLaren-Flint
Medical Center in Flint were he graduated in 1996. Jamie then went to Livingston
County EMS and was there for 10 years serving in the roles of Field Train
Officer and Shift Coordinator. Jamie soon figured out being a medic just wasn’t
enough, so he decided to start teaching. In 1998 Jamie graduated from the EMS IC
program at McLaren and Jamie has been teaching EMT and Paramedic courses ever
since. Jamie has served as a Reserve Police Officer and is currently a
Firefighter with Fenton City Fire Department.
Jamie also took advantage of the Mott Community College Graduate Paramedic
Associates Degree and is now working on his Bachelors Degree on Public Safety
Administration. Jamie currently is the Paramedic Program coordinator and
oversees the clinical program, he also instructs the ACLS, PALS, PTHLS and PEPP
programs.
John Dugay: John started his career in EMS in
1998 graduating from McLaren’s EMT program and going to work for a local
ambulance service in the Flint area. He then moved to Livingston County EMS were
he worked as a Paramedic, Field Trainer and Part-time shift Coordinator. John
also works as a special event medic for a Detroit company and has done such
events as The North American International Auto Show, Michigan State Fair, Super
Bowl and Detroit Winter Fest along with many other concerts and music festivals.
John also is a firefighter, MFFTC Instructor and Hazardous Materials Technician.
His has always enjoyed instructing, teaching his first CPR class in 1986 while
was serving in the United States Air Force. He has been teaching EMS for 5 years
and started here at McLaren in 2004 as a part-time instructor. He then accepted
a full-time position in 2007, were he serves as the EMT Programs Coordinator and
heads the Industrial Continuing Education program. This widely diverse
background gives John the ability to relate the subject matter to other things
so most students can understand.
In his off time John and his wife are avid motorcyclist and enjoy taking long
trips. They have been to the Sturgis Rally in South Dakota, Daytona Beach Rally
in Florida and to the Harley Davidson 105th Anniversary in Milwaukee.
John used his paramedic certification and converted it into college credits
at Mott Community Collage to get his Associates Degree and then went on to
obtain his Bachelors Degree of Applied Science and is currently working on a
Medic-to-RN degree.
